FAQ’s

Can you provide food plans that will work for the whole family?

Yes, of course. However, this does take more time and effort. Emma will require more information to meet the needs of all the family members. Therefore, a holistic lifestyle consultation or the complete food package will take longer than 90minutes.

What if I already have a personal trainer?

If you are looking at having a one-off consultation with Emma, whether it is nutritional and lifestyle based or a postural assessment, both are fine. Emma is happy to consult with your current personal trainer if they are happy to receive the information. If you are looking to leave your personal trainer, it is up to you to decide how to go about doing that

How does personal training work?

There are no set contracts with Emma in regards to personal training. Emma will discuss with each client what she feels would be the most effective way to reach their goals. This can vary person to person, but will often include an initial postural assessment, program design and sessions to go over programs. The client is then free to work on the programs in their own time and Emma will update the program when necessary. Clients will often work with Emma weekly or fortnightly for specific training purposes, rehabilitation, or because they know that they lack the motivation to come into the gym by themselves. Monthly sessions on top of programs are popular, as it helps clients to remember how hard they should be working when training alone and often gives them a motivational kick into gear!

Do I have to join Les Mills to train with you?

No, not at all, Emma also works at Fitness-n-Function, which is a private personal training studio in Eden Terrace, Auckland. Have a look on the locations page to get the address.

When will I see results?

This depends on your initial ‘health status’, your goals and how much time and energy you are willing to put into your health. Once Emma knows more about you she is more able to give an accurate time frame.

What is a posture assessment?

A posture assessment involves Emma observing the client’s posture with a plumb-line. Specific angles are measured including: spinal curvatures, forward head posture, pelvic tilt, and the first rib angle. This is followed by a stretch assessment in which short or tight muscles are identified (that need to be stretched), along with long or weak muscles (that need to be strengthened). Specific strength and endurance tests are also done where applicable, as is gait analysis.

What is a physiological load assessment?

A physiological load assessment looks at the accumulative stress in a client’s life including physical stress, mental and emotional stress, spiritual stress and organ stress. Unfortunately, our bodies cannot distinguish between the different forms of stress that we may be under. Exercise is a form of physical stress, so this is vital information for Emma, so that she can understand her clients and can prescribe the most appropriate form of exercise. The more stress that is placed on a body, the more likely it is to show signs and symptoms of pain and disease, particularly chronic disease.
